Description

Additional photos of this Laverda 750S Formula are available here for your perusal.

After Laverda filed for bankruptcy in 1992 and came back to life in Zane, Italy, they offered three models all around a 650cc motor. The race replica variant was called the Formula, and Laverda updated the model in 1997 with a 750cc motor and goodies like Marchesini wheels, Paioli suspension, and even a Nico Bakker designed-frame. They also offered an up-spec variant called the Sport Formula which got an upgraded ECU and cams.

Laverda introduced the Formula in 1996 with a 650cc engine. Soon after they got even fancier with the 750S Formula – a factory special with a bump in power (92 hp) and upgraded chassis components like Paioli suspension, Marchesini wheels, and Brembo brakes. This bike just about marks the end of Laverda as we know it.

The company was taken over by Aprilia in 2000 and after Piaggio bought Aprilia in 2004, anything related to the Laverda marque was shut down. Then again, Laverda was saved in 1993 by millionaire Francesco Tognon, so maybe some other wealthy individual will step up to save Laverda in the near future.

Manufactured in July of 1998, this example (VIN: ZLVSSA101X0001396) is one of over thirty motorcycles from the Alan Wilzig collection that we are auctioning off. Alan acquired this bike in November of 2002 and has had it on display in his collection ever since.

The odometer shows 4,281 kilometers (2,660 miles).

In preparation for the listing, we installed a new front brake switch, installed a new battery, replaced two H4 connectors, flushed the fuel tank, flushed the brake fluid, and gave it a detail. Daniel performed the work, he notes that the brake pads are 80%.

When this bike came to us, it was missing one of the bolts in the rear sprocket. Said bolt had backed itself out and scraped up the inside of the swingarm. We replaced the missing bolt with a non-OEM unit.

Modifications:
D&D exhaust.

Battery tender lead.

Bar end turn signals.

Aftermarket rear brake master reservoir cover.

5-14 Update: Thanks to mgordonvegas8 in the comments, who points out additional modifications of:
– front turn signals
– chopped license plate mount
– aftermarket windscreen
– aftermarket front fender

Cosmetic Blemishes:

Inside of the tank:

It is riding on Pirelli MTR22 tires that have aged out.

The sale includes two keys.

It also includes the owner’s manual, passenger seat, original turn signals, some HID ballasts the seller had us remove, and a few extra parts.

Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California (please make an appointment for an inspection), this Laverda is offered on a clean New York title.
