In 1999, Ducati updated the instant-classic 916 with a larger motor and a corresponding name change to 996. The new model debuted with three models, the middle of which was the “S”.

The S got several upgrades, including:

Lighter 5-spoke Marchesini wheels.

Extra carbon fiber pieces.

Ohlins shock and steering damper.

This example (VIN: ZDM1SB5T4YB007115) is #240 of the numbered production run. The seller is the second owner, he acquired it nine years ago from a consignment shop in Lake Forest, California.

During his ownership, the seller has covered roughly 2,500 miles. The odometer shows 7,958 miles.

Refreshed Showa forks (oil service), new battery, fresh oil and coolant, and new belts with less than 500 miles. The seller states that there are no known mechanical issues. The “bike is still ridden and checked monthly.”

Fast by Ferracci exhaust system (with ECU chip).

Fast by Ferracci clip ons.

SpeedyMoto clutch cover.

Carbon fiber swingarm cover.

Tinted windscreen.

Battery tender lead.

Cosmetic Blemishes:
The seller notes “a few small blemishes in the paint, rear wheel has some pitting.”

It is riding on Dunlop Sportmax Q3 tires from 2013.

The sale includes one key, a rear wheel stand, and the original sales document from January 2000 showing that it sold for $24,922.92.

Currently located in Lake Forest, California, this Ducati is offered on a clean California title with registration current through February 2023.
