Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 2000 Harley-Davidson MT500. Please note: VINData incorrectly lists this as having two cylinders when it is in fact a single.

One of the rarest bikes to ever come out of the Harley-Davidson factory, the MT500 has an interesting history. Get ready to surprise all your Harley buddies! Originally built by the British in the ’80s around a Rotax single, rights to this bike were sold by Armstrong-CCM to Harley-Davidson, who sold just 355 copies of the MT500 in 1999 and 115 the following year.

Only select Harley-Davidson dealerships were allowed to sell these bikes. Some raffled the bikes off, with proceeds going to the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation, others were sold for approximately $12,000, depending on if you got luggage and/or one of the greatest options ever available on a motorcycle – a mounted gun case for a rifle.

This example is VIN: 1HD4RLS10YY000039. The seller is the original owner of the bike and purchased it from Lebanon, Missouri Harley-Davidson, and states, “I bought the motorcycle with 3 miles on it in 2005 or 2006. I purchased the motorcycle because the owner of the Harley dealership I purchased it from and another friend of mine were all going to take a trip to Alaska for two weeks and see the countryside, unfortunately we never went. The motorcycle was manufactured for the British & American army so it’s a dual purpose motorcycle. The motorcycle is electric start or you can kick start it as well. Most all of them came with gun rack for a M16 and another container for other supplies. I had the dealership I bought it from take them off and I did not keep them. However, they sell replacements at Force Motorcycles if someone wanted to add them back to it. There was only 115 of these produced in 2000 and I have #39. This was the last year it was produced. I never ride it and I would like to see it go to someone who can enjoy it.”

Maintenance:
Per the seller, “I’ve replaced the oil and filter and the rubber chain guard that the chain rides on, it crumbled from sitting for 20 years. Also, I’ve changed the spark plug and fuel filter. The carburetor needs to be adjusted. There is no trash in the fuel system. It was properly drained while it was parked. The bike has a new AGM battery in it and I ordered two spare keys for it. Parts are still readily available but you have to purchase them from Force Motorcycles in England.”
Modifications:
“I wrapped the exhaust with header wrap.”

It is riding on Metzeler Enduro tires with date codes of 108 and 248.

The sale includes two keys, owner’s manual, parts manual, service manual, take off parts, and extra tire tubes.

Cosmetic Blemishes:
The seller states there are no blemishes.
