Sold between in 2000 and 2006 in two different versions, the RC51 has gone down as one of the most legendary motorcycles to ever come out of Honda, well-deserving of the “RC” designation that’s graced other famous Hondas like the RC30, RC40, and RC45. This was Honda’s take on the V-Twin replica racer, beating Ducati at it’s own game with multiple World Superbike Championships and a AMA Championship.
This example is VIN: JH2SC4547YM000091. The seller is the second owner – “my friend was looking to sell it after having it 20 years, and I was fortunate to be the lucky guy to buy it in April 2020. Unfortunately on Oct 1, 2020, I was involved in a bad motorcycle accident on my Triumph Thunderbird and will no longer be able to ride a sport bike again due to the injuries suffered to my left shoulder.”
During his ownership, the seller has covered ~600 miles. The odometer shows 10,763 miles.
The original owner was a former track announcer at the Bonneville Salt Flat and Sears Point Raceway. It was autographed by Nicky Hayden at Laguna Seca in 2001 or 2002 while he was walking the bike through the paddock. “As he was going by the Honda factory team, he saw Nicky and asked for the autograph, in which Nicky obliged. This has never been protected by clear-coat all this time, and has some small smudges due to that.”
Modifications:
Corbin seat. “This was the first RC51 to go to Corbin for a new saddle, so this is the prototype Corbin seat for RC51s.”
Seat pad.
The sale includes a tank bra and a Rocket Locker, which is a tail bag that locks to the bike so that it can’t be removed without the key.
Cosmetic Blemishes:
The tire dates codes are 2704 and 1905.
Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California (please make an appointment for an inspection), this Honda is offered on a clean California title with non-op registration.
