Retro-inspired modern classics seem to be all the rage right now, but a few companies were well-ahead of the game. One such company was Kawasaki with their ZRX, a bike that Cycle World called a “a replica of a replica” as it was designed to make you think of the iconic 1982 Eddie Lawson Replica.

In 2010, Cycle World called the ZRX1100 a “Best Used Bike”, praising the bike for its styling and overall competence: “Kawasaki has built the best standard bike since standard bikes were standard.” The 1,052cc inline-four engine put down 96 horsepower and 70 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheel, good for a claimed top speed of 143 miles per hour.

This example is VIN: JKAZRBC10YA034260. The seller acquired it two months ago from the original owner in the Bronx, New York.

During his ownership, the seller has covered 100 miles. The odometer shows 31,460 miles.

“I bought the bike because I wanted a retro inline 4, I’ve moved away from sport bikes for the moment and wanted a larger bike to complement my KTM 690 SMC R, in doing so I was very happy with my purchase, but I felt the desire to build a bike myself, the work the original owner had done to the ZRX was very admirable to me and I wanted to experience the same instead of buying someone else’s build, so I purchased a brand new ’26 CB1000F I plan to build up over the years as my own project, keeping the retro heritage and getting modern electronics, although I do prefer the analog feel of carburetors.”
Maintenance:
“I have all the records from the original owner on all the modifications and maintenance he performed on the bike, he was quite meticulous and really cared for the bike well over its 26 year lifespan, although he was missing some paperwork for some maintenance items performed, the majority of the paperwork is organized and the bike was clearly very well cared for.” The seller states that there are no known mechanical issues.
