Description

Additional photos of this Honda FTR223 are available here for your perusal.

Nowadays, the “FTR” model is heavily associated with Indian and the FTR1200. But Honda beat them to the punch with a motorcycle that was never officially sold in the US, their own flat track racing-inspired FTR223.

Honda offered three versions of the FTR223 in Japan – the base model, a Deluxe model, and the tri-color (which aped the RS750 race bike) with Honda factory colors and number plate styling, as offered here. The model was introduced in 2001, and it was a very popular platform for customization thanks to the simple tech and style.

The bike lends itself to customization with its simple and sturdy XR200 derived frame and a bulletproof 2 valve OHC engine. The air-cooled single was good for 19 horsepower and the bike sat on 18″ wheels front and rear.

This example is VIN: MC34-1006663.

The odometer shows 36,779 kilometers (22,853 miles).

Seeing an FTR223 in the U.S. is quite rare, even more so in completely stock condition with no modifications. The seller states there are no mechanical issues: “the bikes starts easily every time and runs like it is new.”

Cosmetic Blemishes:
The owner notes: “usual wear for a 20 year old bike and the mileage. Corrosion on the engine and some other aluminum parts, some larger scrapes on the exhaust pipe, various small marks and scratches.”
Scratches on the exhaust:

Corrosion on engine, wear on the frame paint:
