In a market segment characterized by extremes, Honda’s VFR has always trod the middle ground––never the fastest, or the lightest, or the quickest way around a racetrack, but always a standout, biased more toward balance than bravado, a sportbike for the real world.” That’s how Motorcyclist magazine introduces Honda’s legendary Interceptor in this timeline of the model.

As noted by MCN, many Honda fans think that the fifth generation “is the best version of the best motorcycle ever built,” calling it a “consumate all-rounder that looks great and goes better whether you’re on a track day, commuting or heading on a two week holiday with pillion and luggage.” It’s an excellent combination of old and new, blending the classic feeling we all love with modern conveniences such as fuel injection, modern tire sizes, digital instrumentation, and cartridge forks.

But the heart of the fifth generation VFR (which was introduced in 1998) was the V-4 engine which produced 110 horsepower and 59 lb-ft of torque, a motor that was known for being flexible and reliable.

The ’01 model was the last year to see gear-driven cams, full adjustable suspension, single-sided swingarm, and Honda’s 3rd generation integrated braking.

Manufactured in November of 2000, this example is VIN: JH2RC46181M300148. The seller purchased this example over one year ago from the original owner.

The odometer shows 61,657 miles. The seller has put roughly 2,500 miles on this example.

The seller states they have performed an oil change, flushed the coolant, installed new handgrips and foot peg rubber, and installed a new rear tire.

The seller has included paperwork from the previous owner which documents various services performed on the motorcycle.

Staintune slip-on exhaust.

NWS carbon fiber rear tire hugger.

Busy Little Shop peg lowering blocks.

Battery voltage indicator light.

90-degree valve stems.

Not pictured: Roadstercycle Mosfet FH020AA Regulator Rectifier Superkit.

Inside of the tank:

It is riding on Metzeler tires with date codes of 0119 and 2722.

The sale includes two keys.

This sale includes the original exhaust, pillion seat cover, and service manual.
