Description

Additional photos of this Malaguti Phantom 50 are available here for your perusal.

Being an Italian brand, Malaguti has long designed their vehicles at the intersection of style and innovation. The Phantom was no different, as it boasted a liquid-cooled 50cc two-stroke engine and a unique catalytic converter designed to comply with increasingly strict emissions standards.

Moreover, the stylized scooter offered a new and modern (for the time) approach to daily commuting for the average rider (without sacrificing appearance and quality). As such, the bike came standard with a digital dash that housed functions like a tachometer, a coolant temperature gauge, a trip meter, a battery voltage meter, and an average speed calculator.

The Phantom was offered in multiple models, with the most iconic of them being the Ducati Corse version. As the name would imply, it bore a special Ducati livery that showcased the pride of Bologna’s company standard. Malaguti received a licensing deal to produce the scooters with a specific livery as a tip of the hat to their neighboring company in Italy. As part of the move, the Ducati Corse edition featured Paioli shocks, front and rear Grimeca disc brakes, and alloy wheels.
