Description

Additional photos are available here for your perusal.

Being an Italian brand, Malaguti has long designed their vehicles at the intersection of style and innovation. The Phantom was no different, as it boasted a liquid-cooled 50cc two-stroke engine and a unique catalytic converter designed to comply with increasingly strict emissions standards.

Moreover, the stylized scooter offered a new and modern (for the time) approach to daily commuting for the average rider (without sacrificing appearance and quality). As such, the bike came standard with a digital dash that housed functions like a tachometer, a coolant temperature gauge, a trip meter, a battery voltage meter, and an average speed calculator.

The Phantom was offered in multiple models, with the most iconic of them being the Ducati Corse version. As the name would imply, it bore a special Ducati livery that showcased the pride of Bologna’s company standard. Malaguti received a licensing deal to produce the scooters with a specific livery as a tip of the hat to their neighboring company in Italy. As part of the move, the Ducati Corse edition featured Paioli shocks, front and rear Grimeca disc brakes, and alloy wheels.

This example is VIN: ZJM47000047045419. The seller acquired the bike through an Iconic auction. He works in production, so he is letting it go to free up some money because of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike.

The odometer shows 20,680 kilometers (12,849 miles).

Maintenance:
When we first sold the bike, the seller had us swap out the battery, replace the hydraulic fluid, and flush and fill the brakes.

Olly did the work, he notes the following in his condition report:
Tire Life – Front/ Rear: 100%
Brake Life – Front: 85%; Rear:70%
Hydraulic Fluid – Front/Rear: Ok
Oil: Ok
Oil Tank: Ok
Coolant: Ok
Low Beam: Ok
Turn Signals: Ok
Tail Light: Ok
Brake Light: Ok
Plate Light: Ok
Killswitch: Ok

Please Note: The starter sprag is worn and makes noise when the electric starter is used. It does not affect the kickstart mechanism. We’ve included a video below:

Modifications:

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album up top for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
