Description
Additional photos of this 2002 Honda CRF450R are available here for your perusal.
Introduced in 2002, Honda’s CRF450R was their first four-stroke MX bike, and it came out with a bang. It was the lightest bike in the class at 235 pounds without fuel – even 12 years later it was within a couple of pounds of the 2014 model. Yamaha may have been first big manufacturer in the modern four-stroke MX bike market with the YZ400F, but it wasn’t until Honda came through with this lighter, better-suspended, and easier-to-ride that the market truly changed.
What really caught the attention of reviewers and riders alike was the Unicam valvetrain, which allowed one cam to actuate all four valves. This cut out a pound of weight from the engine, lowering the center of gravity as well. For all the information you could want about the first year of the CRF450R, check out this profile on PulpMX.
This example is VIN: JH2PE05302M006662. California bidders should pay special note that as a 2002 model, this is from the last year that universally got green stickers (year-round use at all California OHV riding areas).
It is equipped with several upgrades, including a titanium FMF exhaust.
Acerbis hand guards (right side has damage).
Factory Connection rear spring.
Enduro Engineering skid plate.
We just gave it a service that included a carb clean, clutch cover gasket, fork seals, water pump, oil change, and new tires – it’s ready to get dirty. Are you?
