After approximately a decade and a half with the GSX-R1100 being the top of the Gixxer lineup, Suzuki introduced the all-new GSX-R1000 for 2001. Journalists felt it was the first bike to compete with Yamaha’s revolutionary R1 of 1998, and Suzuki was able to top the R1 with less weight and more power (374 pound dry weight, 160 hp/81 lb-ft at the crank).
As Visor Down put it in its used review: “Famous for its staggering performance the GSX-R1000 may be. But behind the supercar-slaying speed lurks a much more relaxed animal that fits into the real world quite nicely. And on that basis the rapid all-rounder might be a bit more suited to your needs than you’d expect.”
Manufactured in August 2001 this example is VIN: JS1GT74A222102693. The seller acquired it two years ago from the original owner.
The odometer shows 3,819 miles. The seller states “I rode it shortly (less than a half mile) to confirm it runs properly and transmission shifts as it should, also to confirm all else working properly.”
Per the seller, the original owner is “an elderly gentleman who is now 83yrs old. He bought it new in 2002 and rode it up until 2018 when it was taken off the road. I intended on keeping it and putting it away in a collection due to it being in showroom condition.”
Maintenance:
The seller states “Oil filter service, fluids were replaced and new battery was installed a few months before I bought it. I do not have records for the work, but I know it was done at a friend’s local motorcycle dealership. The prior owner had the work done in preparation to sell the bike. I bought the bike not long after. There are no known mechanical issues.”

It is riding on Bridgestone BT011 tires with date codes of 2401 and 1519.
The sale includes one key, original owner’s manual, rear seat, and Suzuki riding tips booklet.

The seller states that “there are no cosmetic blemishes I can see.”
