Yamaha has been in the 600cc sportbike game since the introduction of the XJ600 in 1984. In 1998 however, the company would redefine the 600cc supersport class with the introduction of the all-new YZF-R6. Designed as a 600cc version of the freshly released R1 and offered as a higher-performance alternative to the YZF600R, the R6 featured a remarkable alloy frame and swing-arm and was powered by an inline-four that was the first 200hp-per-liter engine on a production 600. Since its inception, the R6 has been a popular platform for amateur and professional racers alike.
The second generation of R6s (2001-02) received slight cosmetic changes, like new graphics and a tail now completely painted on the underside, along with an LED tail light, lighter forks, digital speedometer, and a weight reduction of about three pounds.
Manufactured November 2001, this example is VIN: JYARJ04E02A024625. The seller purchased the bike from the original owner three months ago and states, “This bike is one of the best bike I’ve ridden in my life (I’ve had almost 40 bikes until now). Smooth power, lightweight, great for daily riding, some highways pull or maybe track day, been riding it for the last 3 months and it was a blast but since I’m an experienced rider I feel I need the 1000cc for longer rides, this R6 made me fall in love again with streets bike and I will always remember it.”
During his ownership the seller has covered approximately 1,000 miles. The odometer shows 6,961 miles.
