The Aprilia Tuono is a motorcycling legend now, but it was rolled out in many small stages. It started as as a limited run of a Streetfighter kit for the Falco in 2001, and the following year Aprilia officially created the Tuono (officially called the Tuono Mille RSV-R Limited) with a numbered run of approximately 200.

When the Limited was initially launched, Aprilia told the press that they were going to make 200, 50 of which were slotted for the US. 135 were built in the first run, with roughly another 100 in a second run. Soon after, Aprilia would create the base model Tuono and the Tuono Racing, and the rest is history. This bike is #208.

The Limited got the full-power RSV-R engine and was upgraded with Ohlins suspension front and rear plus a steering damper, OZ lightweight wheels, carbon fiber bodywork, Matte Diablo black paint on the tank, Aprilia Racing exhaust with EPROM chip, seats covered with an exotic Kevlar-based fabric, frame sliders, and an exclusive gold frame/swingarm color (or as the Italians called it, “oro metalizzato opaco”).

Manufactured in September of 2002, this example is VIN: ZD4RPC0473S000047. The seller is the second owner, he purchased it two and a half years ago from the original owner.

During his ownership, the seller has covered roughly 7,500 miles. The odometer shows 11,152 miles.

The seller is letting it go as he is buying a Ducati Streetfighter V4S. “I’m a bit of an old fart. I had one when they were new. Sold it a number of years back. Saw this one for sale a few years back and wanted to relive my forties again so brought it. Had a lot of fun with it over the last couple of years but realized I miss having all the modern-day electronics. Plus, I feel like it should probably go to a collector. Not someone like me that really wants a rider.”
Maintenance:
“Recently replaced fork seals and basic service in preparation for sale. Oil changed every 3,000 miles or less. Has new Michelin Road tires with less than 1,000 miles on them. Happy for someone to do a fly and ride, will P/U from airport. Would happily ride across country on her.” The seller states that there are no known mechanical issues. “Runs and rides awesome. Used it for 3 separate overnight trips of 900 miles. Never misses a beat.”
Modifications:
Axle sliders that match the factory frame sliders.

Factory race slip-on exhaust. “Has original stock muffler brand new in the box the factory race slip-on came in. Race muffler was fitted new at time of purchase. Comes with stock chip, owner’s manual, both keys, plus Aprilia binder on how to install the race pipe and chip.”

It is riding on Michelin Road 5 tires with date codes of 2521 and 4124.
