The first generation of the Aprilia Tuono was a bit of a revelation – as Jerry Smith put it in a Motorcyclist magazine story, “Buried deep in the mission statement of every road-going sportbike is usually the requirement that some measure of civility be maintained so the bikes don’t scare off potential buyers like snarling dogs in an animal shelter. The design team at Aprilia that penned the specs for the Tuono missed that memo.”

Much of this was due to the engine – unlike most sportbike/standard pairings of the day, the Tuono’s V-twin mill wasn’t down on power from the engine found in the RSV Mille with a claimed 128 horsepower and 76 lb-ft of torque.

In addition, the comfortable seat and upright ergonomics afforded by the bars meant you could enjoy the Tuono for mile after mile without the usual pains that come from extended rides on sportbikes.

In 2003 it was quite a shock to the system and nowadays it remains brilliant fun to ride.”

This example is VIN: ZD4RPC0443S000183. The seller purchased the bike eight years ago from a collector in Altoona, Pennsylvania. He has decided to sell to thin out his collection.

During his ownership the seller has covered approximately 2,700 miles. The odometer shows 15,367 miles.

Maintenance:
The seller states, “Routine service since 2016 by dealers, all receipts during my ownership.”

Modifications:
Aprilia Racing exhaust.

Inside of the tank:

It is riding on Pirelli Diablo Rosso III tires with date codes of 1219 and 1619.

The sale includes two keys, rear pillion cowling, owner manual, service invoices, original exhaust, bike cover and various storage bags.
