After a long series of 916-based superbikes, Ducati dramatically mixed things up styling-wise with the vertically-stacked lights and double-sided swingarm of the 999 in 2003.
The styling was polarizing but the riding experience was not. And while the base model was a quality machine, the up-spec S model came with a slight bump in power/torque (141 hp, 82.5 lb-ft), Ohlins 43mm forks, and the option for a second seat (“bi-posto”).
This example is VIN: ZDM1UB5VX3B003218. The seller purchased the bike a year and half ago from a private party and states, “I have owned several Ducatis in my time, but wanted to experience what is was like to ride a 999. An excellent condition, 1,500 mile 999S came up for sale in my area and I jumped on it. I found out after purchasing it, about a year before the previous owner sold it to me, he paid over $16k on Bring a Trailer for it.”
During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 2,500 miles. The odometer shows 4,080 miles.
