From 1990 to 1996, the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-11 was the world’s fastest production motorcycle, and Team Green benefitted from all sorts of press and rider excitement about that fact. Honda decided to steal the crown, and their weapon of choice was the CBR1100XX. It was also known as the Super Blackbird outside of the US – the name was an homage to the Lockheed SR-71 Blackbird, which has owned the record for fastest “manned airbreathing jet” since 1976. Honda only had the record for three years until Suzuki released the Hayabusa (which was amusingly named as the “peregrine falcon” because they prey on blackbirds), but it was still faster than you’d ever need.

The XX was capable of 175 miles per hour thanks to 162hp/88lb-ft of output from the 1,137cc inline four engine. These bikes are known for being very reliable with owners putting on lots of trouble-free miles. While future efforts from Suzuki and Kawasaki were faster, many publications thought that the Honda was the best all-around bike of the bunch. It also makes you wonder why Yamaha never tried their hand at taking the speed crown.

By 2002, the Super Blackbird had gone through a major revision which included fuel injection, a ram-air intake system, revised linked braking system, larger fuel tank (5.8 -> 6.3 gallons), and digital displays in the dash.

Manufactured in October of 2002, this example is VIN: JH2SC35013M600458. The seller purchased this motorcycle new from Lawrenceville Honda 20 years ago.

The odometer shows 13,115 miles. As the original owner, the seller accounts for all miles.

Per the seller: “Regular oil changes. Regular chain lube and adjust. New battery in March 2023. Serviced 11/2021 at 13,091 miles. Ridden a short distance every month to keep things clean and moving properly. The service included: lubed and adjusted chain, oil and filter changed regularly, engine coolant flush, brake fluid flush, collapsed rear brake hose replaced, fuel injection and throttle body cleaned, spark plugs, air cleaner, front and rear brake pads, new radiator cap.

Corbin seat with removable backrest.

Inside of the tank:

It is riding on Michelin Pilot tires that have aged out.

The sale includes two keys.
