Retro-inspired modern classics seem to be all the rage right now, but a few companies were well-ahead of the game. One of the most notable efforts was the Kawasaki ZRX1200R – Cycle World called it “a replica of a replica“, as it was designed to make you think of the iconic 1982 Eddie Lawson Replica.
It was available in silver, red, and blue, but today’s example shines in the traditional Kawasaki Green.
The 1,164cc DOHC liquid-cooled engine produced 123 horsepower, good for a top speed of over 120 mph. It’s fun but also comfortable if you’re the kind of person that wants to ride for hours at a time.
The seller of this example (VIN: JKAZR9A163A026376) acquired it approximately three years ago from a friend who “had taken it apart to have the tank repaired as it had three small dings in it.”
“It sat for 3 years as he never got around to it. I bought it and went through everything.” The seller estimates that he’s covered approximately 200 miles on it. “Most of my time is spent on the track and I rarely ride street anymore, which is why I’m parting ways with this. The odometer shows 18,803 miles.

The seller runs his own small motorcycle shop and has performed several upgrades:
Full titanium Nojima/Stryker exhaust with Ladybird hanger and Factory Pro 2.5 jet kit.
Earth-X Lithium Ion Battery with tender leads, large K&N filter.
Sprocket Specialties sprockets +2 rear, new O-ring chain.
Core Moto braided brake and clutch lines, ELS radiator brackets, Samco coolant hoses, Engine Ice coolant, carbon fiber front fender, Pirelli Angel GT tires, and rebuilt forks with new seals and dust seals.
Domino grips, Renthal Superbike bars, aluminum bar ends, tinted windscreen, and aftermarket shorty levers. The mirrors have been removed.
Tail tidy, tinted taillight with integrated turn signals.
Not pictured are an EBC clutch pack, ignition advancer, ELS starter chain tamer, ELS titanium petcock, new regulator, and a relocated horn. The sale includes “the remaining jets from the factory pro kit (may need some jetting based on your location).”
Cosmetic Blemishes:
“One small scratch on the front left corner of the upper (it’s not past the paint), rear right of the tail has a scratch through the paint that could be touched up, left side of the tail has two imperfections in the black decal, the left side cover has one small spot of imperfection in the paint & upper mounting tab was plastic welded back on (which is covered by the seat).”
“One head pipe has a ding in it that was there when I bought the exhaust second hand.”
