With the era of big sport bikes long past, the GS1200SS was a motorcycle that harkened back to a time in Japan that involved high speeds and big engine sizes. Back in the 1980’s, Japan underwent quite a few regulation and policy changes that made the possibility of selling anything over 750cc impossible in the domestic market. With this change, the Japanese market saw a shift to smaller, high-revving motorcycles that favored agility and handling over power-output. Come the turn of the century, nostalgic flair and appeal were on the rise, and Suzuki was one of the first to capitalize. The GS1200SS was a celebration of decades prior, with features such as a wired speedometer and a reasonable weight of roughly 462 lbs., the GS1200SS bore many similarities to the original GSX-R1100 from the 80’s.
The GS1200SS came powered by an air and oil-cooled inline 4 engine good for a solid 100 horsepower, while roughly 69 ft/lbs. of torque supplied the rider with ample grunt to get in and out of trouble.
