Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 2004 Aprilia RSV 1000.

In 2004, Aprilia updated their excellent RSV1000R sportbike to the second generation with a bevy of upgrades, most notably the 60-degree V90RR magnesium motor. It also got dual exhausts, tweaks to the chassis, and new styling. The base model was called the RSV1000R, but the one you wanted was the Factory. Why? In addition to the special livery, the Factory gained Ohlins suspension and OZ wheels.

In the early 2000s, Aprilia decided to launch the “Dream Series” of motorcycles and scooters – limited edition variants of their already-impressive machines. At the time, the Italian firm’s highest performing bike was the RSV1000R, so that’s what they used for the platform of the first Dream Series motorcycle – the Nera. Per Robert Pandya, Aprilia USA’s Promotions Manager when this bike was released: “Our Dream Series machines have been designed for the most discriminating enthusiast… while the series will expand into other model lines, it was natural for the RSV 1000 Nera to be the premier edition.”

The biggest visual difference between the Nera and the RSV is the beautiful full set of carbon fiber body panels, though the limited run of bikes came with magnesium OZ wheels, a full titanium exhaust from Akrapovic, and even titanium nuts, bolts, and fasteners – all of which helped to remove over 30 pounds of weight. According to Motorcyclist, actor (and eventual Top Gear host) Matt LeBlanc got the first Nera that came to the US. The article also explains that Nera buyers were provided with perks like a trip to a 2004 MotoGP race and the option of a personalized tour of Aprilia’s headquarters in Noale, Italy. All of this glory didn’t come cheap – MSRP in the US was approximately $40,000. Unfortunately for Aprilia, the Dream Series didn’t take off, and the Nera was the first and last of them.

Although this bike is not a Nera version from the factory, a well known technician here in SoCal named Amauri Nuñez completely worked this bike over to make it its own animal. This bike sports the carbon fiber body work from a Nera as well as carbon fuel tank, and many of the upgrades seen on the Dream series as well as a big bore kit that punches the displacement out to 1100, increasing the power output. The bike also underwent a complete engine rebuild when the bore kit was added and since the rebuild the engine has only 6,000 miles on it. The exhaust is from WSBK, as well as the front forks, the brakes and rotors are MotoGP spec. Please see the modifications section for a full list of unique add ons to this bike.

Maintenance:
In preparation for the listing, the seller had us perform a safety inspection, the seller states “the bike had an oil change service approximately 300 miles ago. This bike was built by Amauri Nunez from Westminster near Huntington Beach CA. He was well renowned for building and maintaining custom Aprilias in the SoCal area. He took the frame from this RSV1000 at 7k miles and rebuilt the motor a with big bore kit and CP pistons (Irvine) to make it an 1100. All new internals with built heads and valves, and keeping the same compression ratio to preserve the known rotax reliability.”
