In 2004, Aprilia updated their excellent RSV1000R sportbike to the second generation with a bevy of upgrades, most notably the 60-degree V90RR magnesium motor.
It also got dual exhausts, tweaks to the chassis, and new styling.
The base model was called the RSV1000R, but the one you wanted was the Factory.
Why? In addition to the special livery, the Factory gained Ohlins suspension and OZ wheels.
This example (VIN: ZD4RRC0104S000022) was originally purchased by Wendell Phillips (founder of Lockhart-Phillips). The seller (second owner) acquired it in the middle of 2010. The odometer reset at some point in the past (a common issue with these machines), but the seller believes that the mileage is at 4,880 (the current reading of 1,867 + 3,013 that were documented on the title before the reset happened). The seller put the bulk of his 1,867 miles between 2010-2014, after which this Aprilia has been on non-op registration and a clean California title.
The seller changed all the fluids in 2016, and he notes that the front brake master cylinder cap was replaced with a plastic version due to corrosion. In addition, he states that the swingarm was recalled by Aprilia in 2005 – there’s no documentation but the part is easily identifiable as the faulty units have two rivet nuts on the inside of the left arm near the axle, and the replacements have only one.
It is equipped with several upgrades, including a complete Akrapovic Evolution 2+2 exhaust (headers and carbon fiber slipons)
Gilles clip-ons with adjustable bar risers and bar ends.
Before this auction went live, the seller had us ensure that this Factory is ready to go by installing a new Yuasa battery and flushing the clutch and brake fluid. The only issues we note are scratches in the right fairing from the owner’s garage and stress cracks on the top corners of both headlights.
The seller also has a few extras that he’s willing to include, such as a Supersprox Stealth rear sprocket, AFAM front sprocket, DID chain, and the second key (not shown in pictures). He’s letting this bike go as he is moving. It is currently available to view at our Santa Monica location – please make an appointment if you’d like to inspect it!
