The 916/996/998 design is considered by many to be the most beautiful motorcycle ever built, and it has held up extremely well. Ducati’s internal celebration of the lineage was the 998S Final Edition (FE) – as the name implied, it was the end of the line. It was also only available by special order. We’ve heard (unofficially) that just 562 monoposto FEs were built.

The 998S FE was available as a monoposto or biposto. Cosmetically, it got a small “FINAL EDITION” script underneath the model name on the side fairings…

…a matching plaque on the top triple…

…and a tricolore on either side of the tail.

Many Ducatisti love this final form as it has all the mechanical updates Ducati applied over the years but still retains the iconic Tamburini styling before they dramatically mixed things up with the 999.

Mechanically, the FE featured the 136 hp Testastretta motor, Brembo brakes, and fully-adjustable Ohlins forks/shocks/steering damper.

This example is VIN: ZDM1SB5V04B023064.

The odometer shows 4,652 miles. During his ownership the seller has covered 200 miles.

Maintenance:
The seller states: “I have performed extremely extensive maintenance on this motorcycle the moment I took ownership. There was a head-to-toe service of the bike performed at Iconic Motorbikes with all paperwork to show (in Gallery). Approximately $4600 in service and parts, in addition to the approximately $1800 in back-up Ducati OEM parts that I have in possession. Among many other details shown in the paperwork, service included new spark plugs, valve adjustment, new OEM timing belts, new OEM air filters, fresh Ducati OEM oil and filter including the mesh pre-filter. A complete fork service, fresh Motul RBF600 fluid in the front and rear brakes and clutch. A new battery and high capacity cable kit. New OEM coolant, new tires, clean/polish inside of the headlight glass. Clean/lubed the chain, deep head to toe detail of the bodywork. I was quite proactive with other items to ensure reliability out on the road. For example, I proactively replaced some known weak points like upgrading the clutch slave cylinder to an Oberon unit, regulator/rectifier and coolant reservoir cap with all new OEM units. My goal was to make this showroom new and 100% entirely mechanically perfect. It is as close to museum quality as any other 998s Final Edition that exists. I have boxes of new OEM parts as back ups such as every part needed to fix any fuel system issues (fuel pump, fuel lines, fuel filter, etc), an assortment of gaskets, o-rings, crush washers, seals, etc.”
Mechanical Issues:
The seller states: “The bike has zero flaws. Starts instantly and runs absolutely perfectly.”
Modifications:
The seller states: “This motorcycle is factory OEM head-to-toe to include factory installed 50mm full Termignoni exhaust system, carbon fiber rear hugger, exhaust shield, and tank protector.”
Aftermarket open clutch cover.

50mm full Termignoni exhaust system.

It is riding on Pirelli Diablo Corso tires with date codes of 2524 and 1325.

The sale includes 2 ignition keys and a Ducati Performance rear tire stand.

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album in the “Photos” tab for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
The seller states: “The Termignoni exhaust sticker is beginning to peel. I ordered a new one that will be included in the sale or installed prior to sale. The bump stop on the rear Ohlins shock is worn a bit. One of the mini right-side fairing bolts is missing but I have an entire set of 12 OEM new ones included in my spare parts box.”
Currently located in Winchester, California, this Ducati is offered on a clean California title with registration current through January of 2027.
