The 916/996/998 design is considered by many to be the most beautiful motorcycle ever built, and it has held up extremely well. Ducati’s internal celebration of the lineage was the 998S Final Edition (FE) – as the name implied, it was the end of the line. It was also only available by special order. We’ve heard (unofficially) that just 562 monoposto FEs were built.
The 998S FE was available as a monoposto or biposto. Cosmetically, it got a small “FINAL EDITION” script underneath the model name on the side fairings, a matching plaque on the top triple…
…and a tricolore on either side of the tail.
Many Ducatisti love this final form as it has all the mechanical updates Ducati applied over the years but still retains the iconic Tamburini styling before they dramatically mixed things up with the 999.
Mechanically, the FE featured the 136 hp Testastretta motor, Brembo brakes, and fully-adjustable Ohlins forks/shocks/steering damper.
