After a long series of 916-based superbikes, Ducati dramatically mixed things up styling-wise with the vertically-stacked lights and double-sided swingarm of the 999 in 2003.
The styling was polarizing but the riding experience was not. And while many Ducatisti favored the up-spec S and R models, the base model was a quality machine in its own right. Suspension came courtesy of Showa, brakes were taken care of via a Brembo setup, and output amounted to a healthy 140 horses at 9,750rpm and 80lb-ft of torque at 8,000rpm.
This example is VIN: ZDM1UB5T14B008453. The seller purchased the bike from his brother two years ago. He is selling to consolidate his collection.
During his ownership the seller has covered approximately 500 miles. The odometer shows 23,993 miles.
Maintenance:
The seller states, “I have changed the oil every other track day, I have replaced the fuel pump base with the Corse Dynamics metal quick connect base, replaced the fuel pump, the fuel filters, replaced the air filters with MWR, replaced the spark plugs, replaced the belts, replaced the clutch with an STM slipper clutch and Barnett plate stack. Replaced the chain and sprockets with Vortex 520 15/38. Rebuilt the Brembo front brake calipers, added Speigler front brake lines with fresh Motul RBF 700 brake fluid, and added Galfer HH sintered Ceramic pads on the front. Both wheels are Marchesini Forged Magnesium wheels and have fresh bearings in them.”
