After a long series of 916-based superbikes, Ducati dramatically mixed things up styling-wise with the vertically-stacked lights and double-sided swingarm of the 999 in 2003.
The styling was polarizing but the riding experience was not. And while the base model was a quality machine, the up-spec S model came with a slight bump in power/torque (141 hp, 82.5 lb-ft), Ohlins 43mm forks, and the option for a second seat (“bi-posto”).
This example is VIN: ZDM1UB5V34B007550. He is selling because he doesn’t ride it anymore.
During his ownership the seller has covered approximately 800 miles. The odometer shows 4,595 miles.
Maintenance:
The seller notes the temp gauge does not work, and the date of the last cam belt drive replacement was five years ago. He states, “The oil is fresh, only a few hundred miles on it. Excellent oil analysis data provided. The clutch fluid is fresh, flushed and bled within the last 4 months. The front tire is brand new, it has only one ride on it, approximately 40 miles. During my ownership I had to remove the tank and have the fuel pump replaced. The fuel filter was replaced at that time as well. The battery is “brand new”, I bought it 3 months ago and it sat on a tender until I just installed the battery in the bike last weekend in order to provide the start up video.”
Modifications:
Termignoni exhaust.
Inside of the tank:
It is riding on Michelin Pilot Power 2CT tires with date codes of 3519 and 1523.
The sale includes one key, owner’s manual, tool kit, and clutch cover.
