Click here for an VINData Motorcycle History Report on this 2004 Suzuki GSX-R1000.
After approximately a decade and a half with the GSX-R1100 being the top of the Gixxer lineup, Suzuki introduced the all-new GSX-R1000 for 2001. Journalists felt it was the first bike to compete with Yamaha’s revolutionary R1 of 1998, and Suzuki was able to top the R1 with less weight and more power (374 pound dry weight, 160 hp/81 lb-ft at the crank).
MCN wrote: “Although the thunder deservedly went to the original class-leading K1, the 03 revision is where the smart money goes. With more power, even more torque and less weight to haul around, the K3 was a magnificent, flickable beast with a roar to match.”
This particular 2004 GSX-R1000 has a rich racing history. The bike was built by Carry Andrew at HyperCycle. It was bike number 34 and was ridden by Michael Barnes for Lion Racing. The bike took second place in the 2004 Toyota 200 at Willow Springs Raceway, and still sports its entry stickers on its tail section. He states “The “T” clamps are kit magnesium with adjustable offsets, the handle bars are also Suzuki Kit items, they’re quick removable. Really everything on the bike was “special” so some details get obscured.”
This example is VIN: JS1GT75A742103503. The seller states that it has mostly been in a museum for the last 15 years.

Some work appears to have been done to make this GSX-R1000 road legal. A headlight, brake light and rear turn signals are present, but not all working.

The odometer shows 4,069 miles.
