Description

10/30 Update: We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience. The bike was initially (and incorrectly) listed as a 2005 ‘S’ model; the seller has since confirmed that it is a standard 999. Please reach out if you have any questions!

Additional photos are available here for your perusal.

After a long series of 916-based superbikes, Ducati dramatically mixed things up styling-wise with the vertically-stacked lights and double-sided swingarm of the 999 in 2003.

The styling was polarizing but the riding experience was not. And while many Ducatisti favored the up-spec S and R models, the base model was a quality machine in its own right. Suspension came courtesy of Showa, brakes were taken care of via a Brembo setup, and output amounted to a healthy 140 horses at 9,750rpm and 80lb-ft of torque at 8,000rpm.

As VisorDown put in its review: “Riding a Ducati superbike feels like a privilege, it’s a very special experience. As soon as you’ve turned the key, pushed the starter button and waited for the deep rumble from the exhaust you know you’re in for a treat. From the early 916s through to the latest incarnation, the 999, the feeling is the same. Exclusivity, that’s the key, combined with the knowledge that the bike you’re riding is at the absolute peak of its game. And riding a 999S is all this, and even more.”

This example is VIN: ZDM1UB5VX58011256. The seller acquired the bike three months ago.

During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 20 miles. The odometer shows 17,306 miles.

Maintenance:
The seller reports that the spark plugs were replaced and the air filter was cleaned at 17,200 miles, and that Cycle Depot replaced the timing belts at 17,304 miles. He notes that the oil and oil filter are due for a replacement at 17,800 miles.
