The S4R marked an evolution of more power, less weight, and a new front end for the Ducati Monster range. When first introduced in 2002, the Ducati S4 set the highest performance standard for a modern naked bike. The success of this model led to the birth of the entire Ducati Monster S4 range, including the S4R and S4RS.

Upon its launch in 2004, Motorcyclist magazine called it “the meanest Monster ever” and “the best Monster yet.” The motor was the 996cc Desmo unit from the 996 superbike with a few tweaks for more street-ability, putting out 12 additional horsepower from the S4 for a total of 113. Showa provided the suspension front and rear, plus it got carbon fiber fenders and a lovely tubular aluminum single-sided swingarm similar to what Ducati offered on the MH900e.

This example is VIN: ZDM1RB5T95B068418. The seller acquired it six months ago from the original owner.

“I purchased this bike from the family of the original owner who was a good friend of mine after she passed away. I have known this bike well and have been on many rides with the previous owner over the years. The bike has been well cared for and serviced often. The upgrades were installed by a professional. The bike sat for about 4 years after my friend passed away and the family sold the bike to me about a year ago. Since I bought it, I have gone over the entire bike including the belt service and it is now fully roadworthy.”
