Description

Additional photos of this KTM 950 SM are available here for your perusal.

In 2005, KTM came out with a big bore supermoto that the media absolutely fell in love with. In MCN’s words, “with the KTM 950 Supermoto finally someone delivers on the supermoto promise, combining the agility, low-down woof and rugged can-do with mile-after-mile reliability, comfort and higher speeds of a top-quality road bike. It’s a big capacity V-twin bad boy that, finally, really can shake its tail at sportsbikes in the twisties.”

The stock bike weighed 421 pounds dry and the 942cc carb’d motor was good for 92 horsepower and 70 pound feet of torque.

That drivetrain was paired with top-notch components including WP suspension and Brembo brakes.

This example (VIN: VBKVS440X5M913980) is one of over thirty motorcycles that we will be auctioning off from the Alan Wilzig collection over the next couple of weeks. Alan is the original owner.

The odometer shows 2,084 miles.

Alan notes that “this bike is the first 950 SM brought into the USA. In fact, it’s earlier than that. Taking a cue from Chevy with the first of each new generation Corvette being auctioned for with proceeds benefitting a charity, KTM sold 950 #0001 through the 2005 Monterey Classic Bike Auction with proceeds going to Riders.org. Months later, KTM realized the bike was a Euro spec version and wanted to exchange the bike for a USA model – but I loved it so much and had done several upgrades/mods so I was reluctant to swap. So for a special customer and with special approval by DOT, KTM was able to MSO the bike as US-legal.”

In preparation for this listing, the seller had us install a new battery, clean the carb, flush the brake/clutch fluid, and give it a detail.
