Alongside the 999, the 999S, and the 999R, Ducati’s Corse racing department also cooked up a limited run of 999RS bikes to compete in World Superbike. Some were offered up to privateer teams, but a few rare examples were built specifically for the factory – today’s bike was Ruben Xaus’ racer in the 2006 season of WSBK with Team Sterilgarda.

That season, Ruben placed 14th overall with a high placement of 4th at Silverstone (where he also set the fastest lap of the day).

Here’s a fascinating video that shows the difference between a stock 999S engine and what Ducati used in the WSBK bikes:

The sale includes a letter from Team Sterilgarda confirming that this machine was ridden by Ruben Xaus in the 2006 WSBK season.

This example is VIN: ZDMH401AA5B016857. The seller acquired it six years ago from Stile Italiano SRL in Italy.

In 2020, the seller had Boulder Motor Sports perform a “mild restoration” with an electronics check, suspension service, and engine rebuild with an overbore, new cylinders, and Pistal pistons.

There is no odometer, true mileage is unknown. The bike has not been ridden since the work was performed.

The seller states that there are no modifications beyond what Ducati did to make it a race bike. One of those upgrades includes the incredibly rare Akrapovic 999RS exhaust (full titanium, variable diameter (generally 60+mm).

Cosmetic Blemishes:
The seller notes “minor cosmetic blemishes from racing SBK.”

Inside of the tank:

The sale includes several spare parts (please note that the parts are in Reno, Nevada).

Currently located in Boulder, Colorado, this Ducati is offered on a Bill of Sale only. Have any questions about this listing? Let us know in the “Comments” tab!
