New for 2002, the CRF450R was Honda’s first production four-stroke MX bike and the lightest bike in class at the time. Dirt Bike magazine said, “We loved the first CRF right out of the gate…it wasn’t the first, and it hasn’t always been the best or the fastest, but the Honda CRF450R is the poster child of American motocross. It has been almost from the day it was released in 2002.”

It took Honda five years to counter Yamaha’s four-stroke challenger (the YZ400F), but their CRF was lighter (15 pounds) and easier to ride than Yamaha’s effort, which was the YZ426F by that point. It was also much easier to start. The all-new motor weighed 65 pounds and featured Honda’s Unicam SOHC design.

This bike is known as a “Super Single” or “Su-Sing” from a race kit consisting of an upgraded suspension, bodywork, and other race required parts. The kit was so ideal for the track that in 2008, AMA even organized a Super Singles race at the Road Race Grand Championship. The kit not only provides a thrilling race experience, “super-single” owners have the option to convert these sub-250lb missiles back to their dirt or road going configuration fairly easily. Owning a 450 and a Super-Single kit allows you to truly own a single bike that can do it all.

This example is VIN: JH2PE05376M412038. The bike was originally purchased from Hahm Motorsports in Anaheim, California and the seller states, “I acquired it from someone who acquired it from the mechanic of the racer in 2008.” The seller has owned the bike approximately five years and is selling because he has too many bikes.

There is no odometer and true mileage is unknown. Per the seller, “I’ve rode it approximately 10 track days but I do have 3 bikes so one doesn’t get ridden the whole time. I usually rode this bike 1st session and that’s it.”

Maintenance:
Per the seller, “Always maintained oil changes since its a race bike, it gets maintained extremely well. New piston and rings, valve adjustment, all new fluids. This bike has no mechanical issues whatsoever, weighs 230 pounds and goes 130 to 140 mph depending on the riders weight. It is ready to rock and roll.”
