To celebrate their 50th anniversary, Yamaha took their incredibly popular 1000cc sportbike and modified just 500 examples into near-production racers.

Specific changes made for the Yamaha R1 Limited Edition include:

An homage to Kenny Roberts and the original Yamaha racing colors with the lovely yellow/black/white paint.

Front and rear Ohlins suspension – developed by the same team that took care of the Yamaha MotoGP bike of the time.

Slipper clutch, integrated lap timer.

Marchesini forged aluminum wheels designed specifically for this bike.

Manufactured in November of 2005, this example is VIN: JYARN15E66A003468. The seller is the original owner, he purchased it new from a Yamaha dealership in Gainesville, Texas. It is #202 out of the 500-unit production run.

The odometer shows 1,861 miles.

Maintenance:
In preparation for the listing, the seller had us swap out the track bodywork (noted below) for stock bodywork and install new Pirelli Rosso III tires with date codes of 4521.

Modifications:
Full custom-painted Sharkskinz bodywork. The seller has ridden this at several track days with the Sharkskinz, he kept the stock bodywork wrapped in protective foam and it was bubble-wrapped when shipped to us.

Full Akrapovic titanium exhaust with carbon fiber canisters.

Brembo radial brake calipers with full floating discs, Brembo radial front brake master cylinder. Upgraded Brembo rear brake caliper.

Ohlins steering damper.

Ohlins TTX rear shock.

Attack Racing rear sets, DynoJet quick shifter.

Sato clipons.

Carbon fiber rear fender/chain guard.

Woodcraft frame and case sliders.

Lightech gas cap, Progrip tank protector.

Flush mount front turn signals, integrated rear turn signals.

Not pictured is a Power Commander III and a Sam’s Servo Sub.
