To celebrate their 50th anniversary, Yamaha took their incredibly popular 1000cc sportbike and modified just 500 examples into near-production racers.
Specific changes made for the Yamaha R1 Limited Edition include:
An homage to Kenny Roberts and the original Yamaha racing colors with the lovely yellow/black/white ‘speedblock’ paint.
Front and rear Ohlins suspension – developed by the same team that took care of the Yamaha MotoGP bike of the time.
Slipper clutch, integrated lap timer.
Marchesini forged aluminum wheels designed specifically for this bike.
Manufactured in November 2005, this example is VIN: JYARN15E36A003475. The seller acquired it six months ago from a private party in Costa Mesa, California.
During his ownership, the seller has covered 1,500 miles. The odometer shows 13,648 miles, the seller notes that there will be approximately 50 extra miles before the bike will be ready for pickup.
It is production number 220 out of 500.
Maintenance:
“Oil change less then 1,000 miles ago. New battery.”
Mechanical Issues:
“Rear brake feels like master cylinder is not functioning properly possibly issue with rear set. Has a different bolt then other side. Tires need replacing. Rear tire has a plug from emergency repair. One headlight is not functioning (left side low beam).”
“#220 key lock for gas tank cap and rear seat are not functioning. Any key can turn and unlock it. Not sure why. I purchased it like this. Steering does not lock with key.”

“Fairings are beat up. Cracked in some parts scraped in others. Looks like it has had slow drops minor accidents. Rear sets are scraped along with frame sliders on both side. I included it in the pictures. Swing arm has a scratch on both side. Rims have marks on it as well. Missing small right plastic cover see pictures.”
Currently located in Paramount, California, this Yamaha is offered on a clean California title with registration current through MONTH YEAR.
