To celebrate their 50th anniversary, Yamaha took their incredibly popular 1000cc sportbike and modified just 500 examples into near-production racers.
Specific changes made for the Yamaha R1 Limited Edition include: An homage to Kenny Roberts and the original Yamaha racing colors with the lovely yellow/black/white ‘speedblock’ paint.
Front and rear Ohlins suspension – developed by the same team that took care of the Yamaha MotoGP bike of the time.
Marchesini forged aluminum wheels designed specifically for this bike.
Manufactured November 2005, this example is VIN: JYARN15EX6A003683. The seller states, “Once I saw that Scott Russell rode one to Daytona years ago, I had to have one. I have been looking for years for a perfect or near perfect example. The bike is as mint as they get. Purchased last year from a private seller in Phoenix, AZ. Previous owner kept the bike in his office. I have followed suit and kept the bike in my house as well.”
It is number 323 of 500.
During his ownership the seller has covered approximately two miles. The odometer shows 1,779 miles.
Maintenance:
Per the seller, “Oil and filter change when purchased. The bike is like new.”
Modifications:
The seller states, “Replaced the Zero Gravity dark smoke screen (included) with an OEM factory Yamaha NOS screen.”

It is riding on Michelin Road 6 tires with date codes of 4621 and 0722.
The sale includes one key, owner’s manual, tool kit, Zero Gravity windscreen, a new battery, and an extra set of rearsets.
