Please note: The VINData report flagged this R1 as having inaccurate mileage. Per the seller, “A friend of mine (a motorcycle collector) who also owned a Yamaha dealership that went out of business in the late 2000s kept this bike and a few others in his private collection for years. His life circumstances changed and I ended up buying this bike from him few years back to add it to my collection. As with all of the bikes he and I had in our collections over the years, we sporadically rode this one around the neighborhood a few miles here and there, mostly to show it off and to keep the internals moving. Since the bike came from his failed dealership, it only had a certificate of origin. I just recently had it switched to a New Mexico title to make it easier for the new buyer/owner to plate it later on. The discrepancy is in the reported mileage on the title (0), as the bike had never been registered or plated during this time.”
To celebrate their 50th anniversary, Yamaha took their incredibly popular 1000cc sportbike and modified just 500 examples into near-production racers.

An homage to Kenny Roberts and the original Yamaha racing colors with the lovely yellow/black/white ‘speedblock’ paint.
Front and rear Ohlins suspension – developed by the same team that took care of the Yamaha MotoGP bike of the time.
Marchesini forged aluminum wheels designed specifically for this bike.
