“The Ducati 1098 was the motorcycle we’d been waiting for since the 916. It’s a Ducati in the truest form.” That’s how MCN summed up the 1098, a bike that was notable for three things – tremendous handling, the most powerful V-Twin production engine to date, and a return to the side by side headlights that we all fell in love with on the 916.
The seller of this example (VIN: ZDM1XBEW77B006020) acquired it six years ago from Beverly Hills Ducati. He has put 463 miles on it since.
The odometer now shows just 674 miles.
When he acquired the bike from BH Ducati in 2014 with 211 miles on the odometer, the dealership performed a full service. He also had a $675 service performed by Forster Ducati in March of 2019 when the bike had 542 miles – the service included an oil/filter change, new timing belts, and new fuel line.
There are just two modifications from stock – extended mirror base posts and a shift lever set up for the GP pattern (original parts included).
The seller notes that it has a new battery and that it comes with the original tires – meaning that the rims are perfect and there are no marks or scratches from tire changes.
The sale includes both keys, the code card, the original owner’s manual, World Dealer Guide, OEM solo seat cowl, carbon fiber swingarm hugger, and Ducati Data Analyzer.
The seller is letting it go as he no longer rides it and wants to add something new to his collection. He adds that there are no cosmetic or mechanical issues to note. This is simply an impressively-preserved, low-mileage example of an iconic Ducati superbike.
