We’re big fans of Aprilia’s RSV series of sportbikes here at Iconic, but this one’s a bit special as it’s been a race bike since birth. In fact, it was Chas Davies‘ AMA Daytona Sportbike steed in the 2009 season with KWS Motorsports Aprilia.

Chaz’s earned two podiums that season on this bike (one at Laguna Seca and one at NJMP), and his performance earned him a spot with Triumph in World Supersport the next year – he moved on to WSBK in 2012. But his Aprilia (VIN: ZD4RRTR028S001124) continued its dedicated life on the track. Including the KWS Motorsports team, the seller believes he is the 4th owner, and he acquired it in 2017 from a private party on eBay in Charlotte, North Carolina. “The second owner paid to have the bike dyno tuned for the Power Commander and had the frame and swingarm gone over and meticulously measured to make sure they we not damaged or misaligned. I have the receipts for the work and the report from Scheibner that both the frame and swing are are correct. I also have the dyno reports.”

I have the MSO from when the bike was originally shipped from Aprilia to a dealer in Summerville, SC for the KWS race team. The second owner never rode it. The third owner repainted the body work, used the spare team decals and added the 78 nose and tail decals. He did a few track days on it and then listed it for sale. After I received the bike I went over it getting it ready for my first track day on it. I purchased frame sliders and tank grip pads (not installed, but will included in the sale) I noticed a slight leak on the fork seals so I had Race Tech replace the front and rear suspension seals. I then took the bike over to P.I. for a Dave Moss tuning day. Unprompted, Dave Moss told me “This is Chaz Davies’ bike” I said “That’s the rumor” (because I bought it as a track bike not a collectible) and Dave Moss replied “No, this is Chaz Davies’ bike. I worked on this bike before.” So he might be worth contacting about it. I then lost a job and then started contract work that paid well but had a lot of hours, then my wife became pregnant and I figured I’d wait on the track days until after, then my son was born at the beginning of the pandemic, March 2020..”

The seller has not ridden it at all. The odometer shows 30 miles but true mileage is unknown.
