Cycle World calls the 990 Super Duke one of the “Best Used Bikes”: “On the open road, the Super Duke is a pleasant all-around ride. But on a backroad, it’s naked-bike excitement at its best.”
But this bike is even better, as it’s the “R” model – a $1,200 upgrade that came with several upgrades: a monoposto seat, more aggressive steering head angle, upgraded cooling system, NiChrome coated forks and shock, taller rear suspension, a steering damper, and orange frame.
The R-spec motor had serious upgrades: larger titanium valves, smaller crankshaft for quicker revs, increased compression ratio, lighter rods, upgraded heads/cams, and larger throttle bodies from the RC8.
Other “R” components include:
Akrapovic headers.
Billet top triple.
KTM axle sliders and swingarm spools.

Maintenance:
In preparation for the listing, the seller had us fix an incorrectly-installed Throttle Position Sensor which was causing a FI warning light, replace the fuel level sensor, and install new spark plug. Angel did the work, he notes that the tires are at 80%, the brake pads are at 80%/90% front and rear, and that the coolant, oil, lights, and kill switch are OK. He also notes that the intake/throttle bodies are heavily modified (the secondary butterflies have been deleted) and that there is a ECU map.

It is riding on Dunlop Roadsmart III tires with date codes of 5017 and 0418.
The sale includes two keys and the code card.
It also includes a tremendous amount of stock parts and extras: front and rear stands, the owner’s manual, repair manual CD, original fender, G2 throttle cam system, sprockets, grips, owner’s briefcase, Power Commander III, mirrors, engine spare parts manual, exhaust baffles, and more.
Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California (please make an appointment for an inspection), this KTM is offered on a clean California title with registration current through November 2022.
