American fans of Aprilia rejoiced when the Italian firm announced that they would export the RS125 to the US, though it wasn’t all good news – due to EPA emissions standards, the baby RS was exclusively for closed-course riding even though it came with lights, mirrors, a horn, and everything else you’d expect to see on a street-legal machine. Thankfully, over the years several owners have been able to get these bikes titles for the road. The 125cc 2-stroke engine is a Rotax unit, and fueling was handled by a 28mm Dell’orto carb. Dry weight was just 280 pounds and while it seems like a tiny bike, the ergonomics aren’t bad for bigger riders, either.

MCN called it the “undisputed icon of the 125cc class“, adding that its “incredible handling beggars belief.”

In 2009, Aprilia offered a special livery (known as Spain’s No 1), a replica of the 250cc GP bike that Jorge Lorenzo won the 2007 World Championship with.

Manufactured in September 2008, this example is VIN: ZD4RMC0CX9S000276. The seller acquired it from a private party in Cary, North Carolina in March 2022.

During his ownership, the seller has covered 500 miles. The odometer shows 1,558 miles.

Maintenance:
“I installed a new chain, battery, tires, and have bled/flushed the front and rear brakes. No documentation however the chain is gold so not stock.” The seller states that there are no known mechanical issues.

Modifications:
Arrow carbon fiber exhaust.

Aftermarket tank protector, aftermarket bar ends.

Evotech Performance license plate mount.

It is riding on Dunlop Sportmax Q3+ tires with date codes of 2221 and 1222.

The sale includes 1 ignition key and several spare parts including an air filter, chain roller, and fuel filter. “There are turn signals included as shown in the pics. All but 2 are cracked at the stem due to gravity. So I removed all the signals which you don’t need for a state inspection on a motorcycle here in NC. However everything works, horn, signals, brake light and license plate light.”

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album in the “Photos” tab for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
“Very small maybe 5 mm scratch on right fairing. Small scratch on r side of tank. As well as 1 inch scratch on left side of tank. The frame has some spotting as seen in the pics, I was never able to get that out. Some sort of defect in the polishing.”

Currently located in Holly springs, North Carolina, this Aprilia is offered on a clean North Carolina title. Have any RS125 stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the “Comments” tab!
