Aprilia introduced the Tuono just after the turn of the millennium, and the naked Italian superbike has remained an important model in the Noale firm’s lineup ever since. Just like with its full-faired counterpart, the Tuono was well received by the riding public – a good-looking bike with a well-designed chassis, top-shelf components, and an exotic roaring V-Twin exhaust note that was purely sublime.

Visor Down put it perfectly: “A Japanese naked bike is a bullock. It has the same structure as a bull, but its performance has been neutered and it now has weight issues. Aprilia’s Tuono is a bull, full of beefy testosterone (or the bovine equivalent), brimming with aggression and ready for a fight.” In other words, you got to enjoy all 139 horsepower. In addition, the comfortable seat and upright ergonomics afforded by the bars meant you could enjoy the Tuono for mile after mile without the usual pains that come from extended rides on sportbikes.

We think MCN described it perfectly when they said, “The Aprilia Tuono 1000 is one of the maddest motorcycles you can buy, with a blend of wheelie-popping power, respectable handling and Goldie Lookin’ Chain styling. A motor taken from the RSV1000 Mille sportbike, but not detuned, acts like a Mr Hyde potion in this motorcycle, but if you like the occasional foray to the dark side, you’ll love the Aprilia Tuono 1000.”

Manufactured March 2009, this example is VIN: ZD4RRTT199S001141. The seller purchased the bike in July of 2011 from Moto Nexus / Golf Cart Center of Hendersonville in North Carolina and states, “I bought the bike new and have thoroughly enjoyed it for nearly 15 years. It was a perfect bike for my style of riding. Most of the time I rode it on day trips in the mountains of southern Appalachia, where it would eat up 300 miles quickly and comfortably. With the Ventura luggage system I have taken in on week long trips into WV, PA, OH and out West riding Utah, New Mexico and Arizona. The orange color is striking and, in my opinion, the most beautiful color scheme for the 2nd generation Tuono. I frequently receive complements on it while on the road or at bike nights. Aprilia only made the orange color scheme for 1 year, making it a rarity among what is already a pretty rare bike.”

The odometer shows 28,171 miles and the seller notes, “It had 23 miles on it when I purchased it.”

Maintenance:
Per the seller, “I generally do my own basic maintenance – oil / oil filter / air filter / brake fluid / chain. I typically do the fluid and filter maintenance annually. I do not have documentation for every time I have done this, but I do have documentation for oil changes from 2/1/14 to 1/13/25. Chain & sprocket w/ documentation 8/14/16, oil tank change w/ documentation 6/24/17, radiator change w/ documentation 7/15/14, another radiator change in 2023 w/o documentation, fuel pump wiring and relay change w/ documentation 8/12/15. I have a K&N air filter that I clean & refresh at the same time I don an oil change – no documentation. Aprilia dealership, Matthews Fun Machine in Charlotte NC, did a valve check & fork oil / seals change on 2/10/18 with documentation – miles at the time was 19,687. Aprilia dealership, Touring Sport in Greenville SC, replaced the wiring harness under factory warranty in 2012. I do not have that documentation.”
Modifications:
“Ohlins rear suspension (set for 180 lbs rider), Mivv slip-on exhaust, R&G frame sliders, Ventura luggage system (not currently mounted on bike but can be included in the sale).”

It is riding on Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tires with date codes of 4620 and 4720.

The sale includes two keys, owner’s manual, Ventura luggage with mounting system, and passenger seat. Pit Bull stand not included.

Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album up top for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
“The bike has minor scratching on the right side swing-arm and exhaust. The right rear fairing (beside the pillion seat) has been cracked. The crack has been repaired but is still visible. The handle bar end on the right side has also been scraped. A small washer / spacer in the right headlight has come loose. The headlight still functions properly and I have changed the bulb in that headlight multiple times since the spacer came loose. Unfortunately the fix requires purchasing an entire new headlight at roughly $350, so I just left it.”
