You wouldn’t be alone if you though the MV Agusta F4 was the world’s most beautiful motorcycle – but styling is subjective. What can’t be argued is speed, and the F4 R 312 was, when released in 2008, the world’s fastest motorcycle. That’s where the “312” in the name comes from – it’s the MV’s top speed in kilometers. In miles, it’s 193.87. Whatever the unit, it’s an impressive number!
The next year, MV added an extra R to the name and inserted the even larger 1,078cc engine they debuted in the ultra-exclusive F4 CC, yielding a bump in power to 190 hp at 12,200 rpm. This was a 9 horsepower increase over the previous year’s F4 R 312, which itself offered a 7 horsepower increase over the standard model. The 1078 RR also benefitted from a new slipper clutch in 2009 and a new instrument panel in 2010.
Those extras complemented other top-notch components such as Brembo monobloc brakes, Marzocchi suspension, and Marchesini forged wheels.
MV Agusta sent 150 units to the US per WSBK homologation rules – 50 in each of 3 color options: Racing Red/Silver, Black/Anthracite, or Pearl White/Gloss Black.
This example is VIN: ZCGFAFVW89V009332. The seller is the second owner. “A very close friend of mine in NJ who is an engineer and pilot sold the bike to me in 2019. All services were performed by him and I did the 10k service myself upon transfer. I currently own 9 MV Agustas and have been an avid enthusiast since first seeing the F4 Oro at the Guggenheim Museum in NYC over 2 decades ago.”
During his ownership, he has covered 40 miles. The odometer shows 9,371 miles.
Maintenance:
The seller states that there are no known mechanical issues. Performed maintenance included “all fluids, front fork seals, preventative maintenance (all well nuts, fuel tank hoses [j10 submersible spec], rear hub bearings).”
Modifications:
“Everything is original to the bike except for maintenance items and an integrated tail light turn signal system.”
“Also included will be a set of beautifully done carbon fiber side panels (ultralight 100% carbon, not carbon/fiberglass composite).”
The fairings were finished with 5 layers of clearcoat and look impeccable, save for an unfortunate storage mishap on the right side panel as seen in the images. Repair would not have completed in time for this auction but any competent painter can refinish with low effort.”
Cosmetic Blemishes:
The seller notes a scratch on the front wheel.
It is riding on Michelin 2CT tires with date codes of 4719 and 0420.
The sale includes two keys, “4 quarts of the factory suggested oil (AGIP ENI 10W60), Purolator PL14612 oil filter, manuals and toolkit, both original keys, 4 NGK CR9EB spark plugs, a rear socket tool, the factory rear stand, and an MV Corse indoor dust cover. An original front fender from the previous year’s F4 312R is included as I think it looks better than the glossy black fender the bike originally came with.”
“Both the original red MV factory rear stand and the easier to use Pitbull Hybrid One-armed rear stand are included.”
The seller sums up his bike by saying, “this magnificent specimen was never tracked, crashed, or on its side. This motorcycle was always cleaned with a wet sponge, and never pressure washed.” Currently located in New York, New York, this MV Agusta is offered on a clean New York title. The seller notes that the mileage on the title was not typed in correctly and it reads 9,753. Have any F4 stories or questions about this listing? Let us know in the “Comments” tab!
