In 2011, Ducati replaced the 1198 S with the 1198 SP, which featured Ducati’s Quick Shifter (DQS) as well as full Ohlins suspension (including a steering damper). The Ohlins TTX rear shock was a $1,400 option on the base model.
It also got the trick aluminum fuel tank that was part of the previous year’s 1198 R Corse Special Edition ($1,500 option on the base model). The tank weighs less than the Corse’s 4.09 gallon tank but is able to carry 4.75 gallons. With a dry weight of just 370 lbs, the SP is 7 pounds lighter then the base 1198 model.
One reason for the decrease in weight was a set of Marchesini forged aluminum wheels (a $2,300 option on the base model).
This example is VIN: ZDM1XBLW3BB029872.
The odometer shows 14,440 miles.
