In 2007, Honda unveiled the CB1000R as an update for the 919 Hornet – but it took them four years to offer it in the United States. Like most naked literbikes, it utilized a detuned version of a superbike (in this case the CB1000RR) and enveloped it in a more comfortable package.
Where was it those first four years? In Europe, which is why much of the styling (such as the combination headlight/seven-bulb LED position light) was drastically different than what we were used to seeing from the Japanese firm.
Another major difference was the chassis, with the single-sided swingarm and model-specific four-spoke wheels.
In a 2011 review, Sport Rider praised the crisp low rpm throttle response, “great midrange power that is easy to manage”, and the nimble handling.
Manufactured March 2011, this example is VIN: ZDCSC6019BF200072. The seller acquired the bike through an Iconic Motorbikes auction approximately three years ago. He used the bike as his daily commuter to and from Iconic Motorbikes. He states that “I love this bike, but I can’t ride anymore and outside of a show bike it just sits. Give her a good home and support those fighters with breasts!”
During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 15,000 miles. The odometer shows 19,223 miles.
Maintenance:
The seller states that “oil was changed every 3,000 miles. New chain, smaller rear sprocket, new chain 2022. All new fluids (brake, clutch, oil, and coolant) in 2023.”
Modifications:
Custom paint by The Harpoon, custom holographic paint wheels.
GPR slip-on exhaust with cat delete mid pipe.
Titainium hardware. (“All banjo bolts, front brake rotor bolts, footpeg pins, bar mounts, tank mount, bar control mounts, footpeg springs, shifter pivot bolt, exhaust hangar bolts, front caliper bolts, sprocket bolts/ nuts, shifter stand pivot bolt, chain stay bolts, pinch bolts, and many more.”)
Alloy hardware (“Radiator shroud stays, license plate mounts, front fender hardware, reservoir caps, and bar ends.”)
Heated grips, Vortex ‘shorty’ adjustable levers, Sena bar mount controller.
High visibility headlight and center light.
Sato rear footpeg delete with Ti bolts, battery tender lead.
It is riding on Pirelli Diablo Rosso IV tires from 2022. The seller states that they have “less than 500 miles.”
The sale includes two keys, a Honda CB1000R service manual, the pictured rear stand, a front stand, and some spares (not pictured).
Cosmetic Blemishes: please see the album up top for all known cosmetic blemishes. Here is a selection:
“Right side cover and engine mount bolt has small blemish.”
Currently located in Orange County, California, this Honda is offered on a clean California title with registration that expired in June 2024. Per the CA DMV website, it would cost $233 to make registration current through June 2025.
