With bodywork inspired by the RC211V, the first 998cc CBR-RR more than looked the business. In 2005, Honda took things one step further and released the iconic Repsol Edition model.
2009 brought the tenth generation of the RR, fresh off of a major revamp for 2008. Big improvements included titanium valves, lighter pistons, a lighter and narrower frame, a slipper clutch, and updates to the electronic steering damper. The old underseat exhaust was dropped in favor of a side-mount for better mass centralization, as well.
Born in Southport, Queensland, Australia in 1985, Casey Stoner began racing at a young age. He moved to the UK in 2002 to continue his racing career in the 125cc GP class for Aprilia. He went on to race for Honda in MotoGP starting in 2006. Then in 2007 he moved over to the factory Ducati team. Stoner celebrated two world championship seasons during his MotoGP career. The first win was with factory Ducati in 2007 and then another in 2011 with HRC. He was well known for his ability to push a bike beyond it’s perceived limits winning races on a then inferior Ducati against the factory Yamaha and Honda teams during their respective heydays.
To celebrate the Aussie GP champion in 2011 Honda Australia decided to commission a special edition of their CBR Repsol. This bike is one of only 170 special edition Casey Stoner Repsol bikes to be produced making this Fireblade as exclusive as it gets. Check out the article posted at motorcyclespecs.co to learn more.
