Additional photos are available here for your perusal.

BMW’s K-series debuted in the early 80s with the K100, a huge departure from the boxer-powered creations that the company had been using for decades. The new bikes were affectionately known as the “flying bricks” to represent the general shape of the longitudinal inline motors. It would take until 2014 for BMW to fall in line with their Japanese competition and go with an inline four-cylinder engine laid across the frame. It competed against the Honda Blackbird and Suzuki Hayabusa when it came to horsepower and speed, but offered much more in creature comfort for riders dedicated to eating up miles at speed – traction control, ABS, luggage, heated grips, and more.

The model was updated to the K1300S in 2008 with a minor restyle, improved fueling, new clutch and transmission, an optional quickshifter, updated electronic suspension adjustment, and amusingly, a redesigned turn signal switch that ditched the long-standing “one per side” setup.

If you wanted to go fast on a race track, BMW was glad to sell you a S1000RR. But if you wanted to fast in the real world, the K1300S was your ticket. As noted in this RoadCarver review, “the BMW K1300S generates as much torque at 4,000 rpm as the BMW S1000RR makes at 11,000 rpm.” Specifically, the updated K-bike motor pushed a healthy 175 horsepower at 9,250 rpm and 103 lb-ft at 8,250 rpm through a shaft final drive.

While the base bike was impressive, BMW took it up a notch with a special model called the HP. Like other Beemers adorned with the exclusive moniker, the K1300 benefitted from tons of top-shelf components. In addition the Alpine White/Lupin Blue Metallic/Night Black livery, the bike also boasted an Akrapović slip-on exhaust, oodles of carbon fiber, HP footpegs, and helpful electronic upgrades such as electronic suspension adjustment and automatic stability control.

Manufactured in February of 2012, this example is VIN: WB1050902CZV94477. The seller purchased the bike 10 years ago from BMW of San Diego. He is the second owner.

It is #399/750.

During his ownership, the seller has covered approximately 50,000 miles. The odometer shows 56,968 miles.

Maintenance:
Per the seller, the bike has had “all annual services, and recalls performed at BMW of San Diego. The 50,000-mile service was completed in 2022 and the last annual service was completed on 03/08/2023.”
