Introduced in 2011, the “EVO” variant of Ducati’s 848 was something that Cycle World called a “midlife upgrade“ with “performance gains… intended to benefit racers and street riders alike.”
The engine got new throttle bodies with larger bores, revised cylinder heads, and a new profile of the piston crown, which significantly bumped the compression ratio from 12.0:1 to 13.2:1. This helped increase horsepower to 140 at the crank.
This example is VIN: ZDM1XBMV4CB019388. The seller is the original owner; he bought the bike new in 2012 as a factory Ducati 848 EVO Corse SE.
The odometer shows 17,716 miles.
Maintenance:
Per the seller, the bike has been gone through in its entirety — it’s received a full Desmo service and a new battery within the last year.
Please note that the bike will display a check engine light unless it is first turned on, turned off, and turned back on once again.
Modifications:
The seller had originally painted the bike with a custom Tricolore livery. After displaying it in a Ducati dealership for several years, he was offered some bodywork from a 2010 848 Nicky Hayden Edition. In the wake of the Kentucky Kid’s accident, he re-did the bike as a tribute.

Currently located at our facility in Santa Monica, California (please make an appointment for an inspection), this Ducati is offered on a Salvaged California title with registration current through February 2023.
The seller explains the salvage title: “The bike was salvage because it was hit in my parking lot when we were remodeling our floors. The motorcycle was parked outside in my parking lot and one of my customers backed into it and knocked it off its kickstand. It only retained scratches, nothing was broken in the process of the accident. The motorcycle was displayed in my office. I did not know it was even salvaged until after I went to go register for tags. I tried to go to the insurance company to have it reversed but that insurance company is no longer around and the DMV will not help me. I guarantee that there’s absolutely nothing wrong with this motorcycle and the cosmetics that were scratched were the original ones that came with the bike.
That’s when I decided to do the Nicky Hayden tribute.”
