Development of Harley’s Twin Cam engine started in the early 1990s, as Harley sought to address problems affecting the previous Evolution engine, particularly structural weaknesses within the crankcase, oil circulation, and leakages. While aftermarket firms such as S&S Cycle previously responded with stronger crankcase components for high-performance Evolutions, Harley went for a completely new design while keeping the engine fundamentally and aesthetically similar to the traditional 45-degree, air-cooled overhead valve V-twin. The Twin Cam only shared 18 parts with its predecessor, as almost all of the components were unique to the engine.

The FLHX debuted in the summer of ’05 for the 2006 model year as the new Street Glide. This essentially amounted to a more streamlined, modern-looking ‘Glide, that reflected trends seen on the street. One of the most striking features of this bike is the lack of the traditional spotlights that normally sit under the Batwing fairing. In fact, the secret H-D code name for the FLHX project was ‘No Spots.” The vision was to produce a bike where “comfort and custom can cohabitate”, influenced by the minimalist, low-slung bikes popping up around the country.

For 2012, the big upgrade to the Street Glide was the 1,690cc “Twin Cam 103″ motor. Other noteworthy features included a six-speed transmission factory bags, audio system, 18” front wheel, Brembo brakes, and air-adjustable monoshock.

This example is VIN: 1HD1KBM13CB642412.

“The bike was purchased new in 2011 from Buffalo Harley. It has always been driven periodically over the course of its life. I have the bike on consignment from a longtime client of ours. He recently passed away, so we are helping to sell the bike for his family.”
Maintenance:
“In September of this year the bike was serviced at Buffalo Harley for a full fluid flush and new battery. Previously a large tune up was done in 2022 around 30,000 miles. A new radio was installed by the dealer in 2018. Otherwise the bike has always been looked at by the Gowanda Harley dealer at least once or twice a year. I was told oil changes were performed like clock work every 3,000 miles.” The seller states that there are “no mechanical issues.”

Modifications:
Aftermarket headlight.

“The bike has upgraded saddle bags and a Harley original but newer radio.”

It is riding on Dunlop American Elite front and Dunlop D407T rear tires with date codes of 4115 and 4320.

The sale includes one key fob and one ignition switch lock key.
