Established in the early 2000’s in China, Kayo is a relatively young player in the motorcycle industry. What the company lacked in experience, it made up for with it’s commitment to delivering quality motorcycles at a fair price point to it’s customers. By 2012, the company had established a foothold in eastern countries with the popularity of smaller-displacement motorcycles rising in use, both for recreational and training purposes. While many countries could source Kayo’s and their respective parts fairly easily, it wasn’t until the MR125 was introduced that the US saw it’s first glimpses of the machines that the Chinese company had been hard at work making. Being one of Kayo’s flagship models at the time, the MR125 was a compact motorcycle that was greater than the sum of it’s parts.
The MR125 came sporting a 125cc single-cylinder 4-stroke engine, putting out a reasonable 9 horsepower and 7 lb-ft of torque, making it the perfect tool for training at the local kart track on a budget. To keep costs down, the Kayo didn’t come sporting the top-of-the-line components and parts, but it didn’t need to. The MR125 was meant to get everyone and anyone into training, and eventually racing. With telescopic front forks and a semi-adjustable rear shock, slicks, disc brakes, and even steel-braided lines, the Kayo was more than enough for the budding enthusiast to get their feet wet in an otherwise exorbitant hobby.
