Introduced to the US in 2012, the Tuono V4 R blended what MCN called “genuine superbike performance, advanced electronic rider aids, a MotoGP soundtrack and a real-world, roomy riding position.” They (and many other publications) asked, “Could this be the ultimate real-world superbike?”
In short, every publication conclued that the answer was “yes.” Thanks to 167 horsepower, 82 lb-ft of torque, more upright ergonomics compared to the RSV4, the best electronics package journalists had seen to date, and a reasonable MSRP, the Tuono was a huge hit with reviewers. “The Tuono V4 R looks like the bargain of the century, especially when you consider its high performance and level of equipment.” The electronics package was APRC (Aprilia Performance Ride Control), and it included a quick shifter, three-way adjustable wheel control, launch control, and eight-level traction control. It was there when you wanted a safety net but everything could also be turned off for maximum thrills.
Manufactured in February 2013, this example is VIN: ZD4TYC006DS000705. The seller acquired it in 2017 as a project from the original owner.
The odometer shows 12,762 miles.
The seller is an experienced motorcycle technician and friend of Iconic who we have trusted to work on several bikes. “The bike was purchased from the original owner with a bad engine. The original engine had dropped a valve, causing a catastrophic failure. The vehicle was acquired by a prominent tech with more than 30 years of experience who later acquired a crash 2016 Tuono 1100 with about 2,500 miles. He installed the 1100 engine into the Tuono 1000 chassis. The title has been updated to include the correct VIN and Engine Number combination currently in the bike. The bike is on non-op registration and will have no additional fees when the new buyer is ready to register it.”
