BMW originally debuted its HP – short for ‘High Performance’ – designation in 2005 with a series of HP2 models built around the venerable boxer twin. However, the Bavarian firm kicked things up a notch with the introduction of the HP4 in 2013.

Based on the already impressive S1000RR, it featured performance upgrades as far as the eye could see. Along with carbon fiber bodywork and forged wheels, it also boasted a lighter sprocket carrier, a titanium exhaust, and even a weight-saving battery. On the road, this meant that it was the lightest four-cylinder supersport in its class, tipping the scales at just 373 lbs dry.

And here’s the thing; the HP4 wasn’t wanting for power. On the contrary — the 999cc inline-four was good for some 193 horses and 83lb-ft of torque. When coupled to a six-speed gearbox and a specially-designed Akrapović exhaust, this translated to a 0-60mph time of 2.8 seconds and a top speed of 186mph.

As is tradition for BMW, they were not content sitting back on their laurels with a high-end performance-based superbike. For 2014, BMW allowed buyers to opt in on various packages, the most notable of those being the ‘Competition Package’. The Competition Package included a full titanium Akrapovic race exhaust, forged aluminum wheels, adjustable rear sets, and a slew of carbon fiber bits and bobs.

Manufactured in January 2013, this example is VIN: WB10D1109DZC96761. The seller acquired it in 2015 and has used it as a street bike with the occasional track day.

This is number 1317 of the production run.

The odometer shows 3,480 miles. The seller owns 12 motorcycles and is selling this to consolidate his collection.
