Introduced in 2011, the “Evo” variant of Ducati’s 848 was something that Cycle World called a “midlife upgrade“, with “performance gains…intended to benefit racers and street riders alike.”
The engine got new throttle bodies with larger bores, revised cylinder heads, and a new profile of the piston crown, which significantly bumped the compression ratio from 12.0:1 to 13.2:1. This helped increase horsepower to 140 at the crank.
This example (VIN: ZDM1XBMV1DB022069) was bought new from Marin Speed Shop in San Rafael, California. The seller is the third owner, and he acquired it in October of 2019 via a classified listing in the Bay Area Riders Forum. Since then, he has covered approximately 2,200 miles.
The odometer shows 11,247 miles.
Modifications:
Arrow Carbon exhaust with DB killer insert (removable).
Sargent Seat.
Zero Gravity dark windscreen.
TechSpec tank grips.
Cosmetic Blemishes:
The seller notes “a tiny nick on the left side of the front fender and some scuffs on the bottom edge of the clutch cover. Otherwise it’s in excellent cosmetic condition.”
3/8 Update: It was noted in the comments that there is ding in the front wheel. Per the seller, “there is indeed a small ding on the wheel. I don’t know how I did not notice it earlier. The wheel if balanced and there is no vibration or adverse effect I can detect. Thanks for noticing this.”
Recent maintenance includes an oil/filter change at ~10k miles as well as Pirelli Diablo Rosso tires less than 200 miles ago. The seller states that there are no mechanical issues. He is letting it go as he bought a KTM RC8 and finds himself riding the Ducati less frequently. Currently located in Belmont, California, this 848 Evo is offered on a clean California title with registration current through June 2021.
